The New Home Warranty Act is a part of Louisiana Legislation and Law that gives reassurance to new home buyers on the quality and craftsmanship of a new construction home. The New Home Warranty Act (NHWA) is the exclusive remedy for construction defects between the builder and the homeowner. It is a tradeoff whereby the builder provides certain warranties remedying and repairing defects in the home in exchange for limitations on such warranties. The warranty only covers actual physical damage to the home as set forth in the NHWA.Â
All licensed builders in the State of Louisiana are required to adhere to the New Home Warranty Act on all New Construction Homes built in the State of Louisiana.
Yes, all aspects of the New Home Warranty transfer between owners for the entire duration of the New Home Warranty.Â
